Undergraduate Students Programs for Plant Science and Technology

Plant Science and Technology program in Shanghai Jiao Tong University aims to cultivate outstanding innovative talents in the field of modern agricultural science who have comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor, and have a systematic grasp of plant science knowledge and research skills, and can become industry leaders in research, development, production, and management.

 

 

[Training objectives] Adhering to the concept of "four in one" education, the fundamental task of this major is to cultivate national pillars with socialist core values, broad interdisciplinary knowledge and comprehensive abilities, and sound personality qualities. Facing the needs of modern agricultural development in the China and the global forefront of plant science and technology, the broad-caliber plant science and technology professional education integrating general education is manifested in the fields of basic botany, fruit tree science, vegetable science, medicinal plant resources and utilization, ornamental botany, facility horticulture, and smart agriculture.

 

[Course Settings] The major curriculum system consists of four categories of courses: general education courses, professional education courses, practical education courses, and personalized education courses. The total credits are about 168.

 

[Employment direction] Graduates have a wide range of employment opportunities and strong job selection abilities. Graduates can engage in research, development, and management in areas such as Plant breeding, plant production, plant biotechnology, plant product processing, information management, fertilizer production, green agricultural product production and export, and related fields.

 

[Enrollment scale] This major enrolls 20-30 students annually, with a total of approximately 100 students enrolled in four years.
